BOARD PROFILE
I am a Chair, Non Executive, Committee Member (Audit & Risk), Executive Director & Corporate Lawyer with over 20 years, board level experience in the public, private and not for profit sectors across the following industries: infrastructure (Water & Energy); Health; Community & Legal Sectors. At board level I currently sit on the board of Mount Isa Water Board (Chair), Catholic Health Aust. (Chair), North West Hospital & Health Board and chair the National Employment Services Assn (NESA). I previously sat on over 20 other boards including: Gladstone Area Water Board; Burnett Water Pty Ltd; Ergon Energy; and Cerebral Palsy Australia. I have also sat on/Chaired numerous Property, Executive Appraisal and Finance & Audit Committees. In an executive capacity I was formerly the Executive Director, Professional Standards, Catholic Church, Company Secretary and Senior Manager Corporate Services for the Queensland Sugar Corporation, and a corporate lawyer for Metway Bank Limited. I am a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, I have a Bachelor of Laws and am an accredited dispute resolver.
BOARD & EXECUTIVE STRENGTHS
• Corporate Governance - development and implementation of effective governance and
risk oversight
• A strategic thinker - instrumental in the successful merger in 2014 of Institute of
Arbitrators & Mediators Australia and LEADR Australia & New Zealand, forming the
largest ADR professional organisation in the Southern hemisphere. I have been regularly
consulted by, and made recommendations to, government and other industry decision-
makers about strategic and industry matters and liaised frequently with government and
industry leaders.
• Outcomes focussed, successful board oversight of construction of major infrastructure projects including Paradise Dam, completed with a small team on time and within budget; successful establishment of the offices of the Sugar Industry Commissioner and Sugar Authority and the implementation of effective dispute resolution processes;
• Experienced in managing conflict and developing collegiate, high functioning boards.
